My name is Kevin (But everyone knows me as Skin) and I left school in 1977 with no qualifications what so ever. The one thing I did know is that I didn’t want to work down the local coal mine like my brother, uncle and father. So that’s where my life adventures began.
At just over 16 years of age I left my family home to work as an assistant herdsman in somerset. I then moved to Maidstone Kent, Coventry, Derbyshire and finally settled in the god’s garden here in sunny Bournemouth. I left farming to become a skilled welder and fabricator, and became a custom bike builder. Over the next 20 years achieved the highest welding qualifications on the market, CAA, Lloyds, ASME etc.
In the year 2000 a spinal injury put a stop to the engineering side of my life. I was sat at home feeling sorry for myself and came across my old airbrush that I found hiding in the back of my tool box from many years ago and thought ‘why not!’. I spent a year working for free at a helmet painting company called EN Design to gain a safety critical knowledge of painting helmets. I spent a further 6 months with various custom painters and decided to start AiryArts. Today you can see some of my artwork before you. I hope you can enjoy and appreciate the hard work and dedication that I have put into my customers artwork, giving them show winning quality pieces at affordable prices.
